Prince William breaks his silence – Royals “very much not a racist family”

Prince William broke his silence on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. The Prince who’s second in line to the British throne, visited a school in London Thursday when a reporter asked point-blank if the Royals were a racist family. William addressed it head-on … “We are very much not a racist family.”

On Thursday the Duke of Cambridge stepped out with his wife Kate Middleton to visit School 21 in Stratford, London, where the royal couple congratulated teachers involved in the school’s reopening following the COVID-19 lockdown. During the outing, a reporter also asked William if he’s spoken to his brother since the Duke of Sussex’s bombshell interview, during which he made claims about the royal family.

“I haven’t spoken to him yet,” William replied, “but I will do.”

Prince William was asked this because Meghan and Harry talked to Oprah about a conversation that allegedly took place about their son Archie Harrison’s skin tone while she was pregnant. While both Meghan and Harry did not share who had these conversations with the Duke of Sussex, Oprah later clarified that it was not Queen Elizabeth II or her husband Prince Philip.

In the tell-all with Oprah, which aired on March 7, Meghan and Harry spoke openly about what led to them to step down as senior members of the royal family. Oprah asked Prince Harry “if someone were to ask you, why did you leave? What would be the simplest answer”. The Duke of Sussex replied “lack of support”.

His wife Meghan also opened up about feeling “unprotected” by the firm. She was very careful in distinguishing the staff and the machinery surrounding the royal family, and the actual members of the family. She felt the communications teams would just wait for the ugly gossip to die down by itself, and did actively did nothing to shut down the rumours and bad press.

I came to understand that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family, but they weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband.

The Duchess of Sussex also opened up about having suicidal thoughts amid intense and racist media scrutiny.

“I just did not want to be alive anymore” she told Oprah.

On March 9, the Queen also broke her silence on Harry and Meghan’s interview.

While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”

Earlier that same day, Harry’s father Prince Charles was asked about the interview while leaving a coronavirus vaccine clinic in London. He didn’t comment at all.
